South East Area Groups Meeting

The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Trust’s Surrey Support Group organised this event so that members in in the South-East could meet with the L&BR Trust and Company officers to hear all the latest news. The event was judged a great success by all those who attended and it is intended that another will occur next year.

This time last year we enjoyed warm spring sunshine as the various outdoor maintenance tasks continued. Today it was cold and windy with most of the volunteers wearing their winter clothing topped by their woolley hats. The next stage of the 2012 fishplate oiling programme was to do the up and down platform lines at Woody Bay Station.

Still the Easter school holidays this week and many more visitors came to Woody Bay today to enjoy their steam train ride behind AXE. Numbers travelling over Easter on the L&BR remain buoyant hopefully continuing the healthy start to the 2012 season.
