Work in Progress: 5th April

Quite a busy day with plenty of visitors about enjoying the Easter holidays on this rather cool, overcast, and colder day than recently.

L&B Catering Manager Judy Williams prepared a delightful buffet lunch for the party of 12 accompanying the booked Footplate Experience Day for one lucky gentleman recipient.

1. AXE was today's locomotive with its larger cab providing room for everyone on board.

2. AXE ready to leave Woody Bay with an afternoon service.

3. Approaching Woody Bay, AXE makes a fine sight seen from the overflow car park.

4. The Thursday group volunteer gang adjust the zipped doorways to the catering marquee ready for the Easter rush.

5. Next task was to continue work on the wooden fence by the new path to the woodland area. The next section is lined up ready for adjustments and fixing.

6. Graham Bendell (in yellow coat) painting the creocote onto the completed fence sections.

7. The completed fence curves around the path edge as it drops down to the woodland area. It is hoped that this will become its own attraction as visitors enjoy the short walk down to the woodland just below the station.

8. In the shed, Dave Drayson sands down some platform seats ready for repainting.

9. Another job today was repairing some sagging boards on the station canopy.

10. The boards are held up in place prior to refixing flush with the others.

11. In Van 23 the display board showing news and progress from 2011/12 has been updated for visitors to Woody Bay to see just some of our work which has been recorded weekly on these website news updates.
