The 762 Club, the group formed to create a new build of the original 1898 Baldwin locomotive for the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, is pleased to announce the projected first steaming date for “LYN”. It is going to be December 2015; just 23 short months away.
The Santa Specials are in full swing. Today extra trains were run for the children, parents, and teachers from Combe Martin Primary School. Santa was about, there was entertainment, carol singing and a very festive atmosphere at Woody Bay.
For the Thursday Gang, just a couple of tasks were required. These included installing another indicator disc signal at Killington Lane, and moving top-soil and turf to build up the bank behind the extended platform.
Exmoor National Park Authority has prepared the Exmoor National Park Draft Local Plan following detailed evidence gathering, including extensive consultation with local communities and organisations. The Local Plan sets out policies that will be used to determine planning applications for future development within the National Park; helping to shape Exmoor over the long term.
Ever so windy today and guess what? We the volunteers had to go down the line to the most exposed part, at Killington Lane Station, to continue finishing the project to relocate the lever frame and surfacing the extended platform and path to the frame.
The northerly gale-force wind was difficult to stand up in at times, but still we huddled around the job and kept busy by shovelling and raking the stone about here.
