Another busy day at Woody Bay with most trains almost full as the late summer visitors enjoy the inland tourist attractions as this showery, overcast day keeps them off the beach.

The boiler for E762 LYN the Lynton & Barnstaple Baldwin locomotive is now complete.

The wet weather arrived later than forecast, but by mid-afternoon Saturday had turned very wet and misty at Woody Bay. Too late to prevent over 250 passengers enjoying a trip behind AXE, mainly earlier in the day, whilst the scenery was still on display.
It was very busy at Woody Bay Station today. Lots and lots of visitors about enjoying their train ride, sampling the tea rooms and learning more about the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway.

Yet another very hot and sunny day and as we are now in the peak season visitor numbers have been substantial all week. With carriage No.4 out of service due to a problem with one of its wheelsets - AXE operated some well loaded three coach trains - including an extra afternoon service to accommodate the passengers who had arrived at the same time as the Shearings coach.
Anyone is free to inspect the restoration progress at Chelfham Station every Sunday from 10am. Just follow the signs from underneath the viaduct.
July 2013 - This occasional report is the latest recording the progress of the small group of volunteers, known as the 'Friends of Chelfham Station', and their restoration of the station building and maintenance of the station site. Although some several miles from Woody Bay and much nearer Barnstaple, Chelfham Station is still wholly owned by the L&B.
