Ever so windy today and guess what? We the volunteers had to go down the line to the most exposed part, at Killington Lane Station, to continue finishing the project to relocate the lever frame and surfacing the extended platform and path to the frame.
The northerly gale-force wind was difficult to stand up in at times, but still we huddled around the job and kept busy by shovelling and raking the stone about here.
1. The lever frame connected in its new position at Killington Lane.
2. Lots of activity in the afternoon with the top surface now laid as tidying-up continues.
3. Andy Foster with the motorised 'whacker' compressing the stone around the path to the lever frame.
4. Completed project showing the lever frame now well away from the rails. A hand-rail will be constructed to assist guards as they operate the levers during each run-round procedure.
5. D6652 with the works train ready to depart.
