A number of L&B Trust members are also Radio Amateurs and, following last year's event, several were at Woody Bay this weekend to celebrate Railways On The Air (ROTA).
Just over a week to go to the Autumn Steam Gala. Its all happening at Woody Bay today with a visiting locomotive (EMMET) in steam, the third Heritage Carriage (No.16) arriving, much early Gala preparation work with the signs brought out of storage etc.
There is also plenty of progress work happening to produce new couplings for the locos, completing the shed partition, signalling work, and of course operating the 'usual train' with AXE and the four carriage set for the many September visitors including the coach parties.
A new L&BR Trust area support group is being formed in areas around the BA postcodes and surrounding areas.
The first meeting was held LAST NIGHT, Monday 16th September and we are pleased to report that the evening was a success. If you could not attend but are interested, please contact David Edwards for further details. Check out the Online members page for more details of how the meeting went.
A misty autumnal day on the railway at Woody Bay, so no chance of a location shot of the train in action on the line. The volunteers all worked in the shed on a variety of projects.
The October issue of Railway Modeller is now on sale and contains exclusive CAD images of Heljan's forthcoming Lynton & Barnstaple 2-6-2T in OO9. There is also an article about Barnstaple stations in the age of steam.
The work undertaken by the 'Exmoor Enterprise' team in support of our extension plans is usually very much behind the scenes, but this week a very necessary and visible job was undertaken by the regular volunteers at Woody Bay.
