Work in Progress: 22nd August

General Manager Martyn Budd was away on holiday this week but still left a few tasks for the Thursday Group to do today.

1. At Woody Bay, several concrete fence posts needed to be moved from Point 'A' to Point 'B'. Graham Bendell, John Villers and Roger Bye carry a post up to the miniature railway station.

2. The posts are put in the coal wagon for transporting along the miniature railway.

3. Graham hand-shunts the loaded wagon along the railway. The posts were unloaded near the 'Lynton end of the miniature railway as part of the fence bordering the A39 project.

4. The empty wagon is brought back for the reloading.

5. Irene Cross waters plant tubs by the steps, whilst Dave Evans carries out work on the roof.

6. Another job today was cleaning Bogie Brake Goods Van 23. The gang hose down and brush off the greenery from the van's sides.

7. John Villers wipes down the (Barnstaple) end of Van 23.

8. Just the one train view this week with a sunshine shot of AXE approaching Woody Bay. Visitor numbers have been healthy all week as we approach the Bank Holiday weekend.

9. Lunch for the volunteers was taken outside the mess room for a change.

10. Some of the volunteers re-located to Chelfham to continue painting signalling items. Graham Bendell (right) looks very fetching in an apron while he paints the point cranks.
