The Essex Group Coach Restoration Project is in full swing (see HERE ) and they have recently put out a request for some able bodies to help out. As well as helping, you will get an ideal opportunity to meet those involved, and see the results of their efforts so far.
Despite the absence of General Manager Martyn Budd today, the keen enthusiastic volunteers of the Thursday Group were prepared to work outside in the rain to further progress the rail renewal of the loop line at Killington Lane.
Back to Killington Lane Station today for the volunteers to continue the rail renewal programme. The first job was to finish off connecting the closure rails on the platform line, cutting, drilling and fixing into place.
A very successful working weekend concluded today with the volunteers relocating to Killington Lane Station after completing the drainage, fencing, and trackbed clearance at Cricket Field Lane ahead of schedule.
The programme of works today was to begin the rail renewals through the station.
With a busy working weekend on the trackbed at Cricket Field Lane, Parracombe ahead of us, the Thursday gang today began the preparations for this essential fencing and drainage work.
The first working weekend of 2011 is this weekend - Friday 28th to Sunday 30th January.
As all the trackwork at Woody Bay is now in fine order after the last trackbash of last year, the intention is to return to our trackbed at Cricket Field Lane and continue the fencing started last year as well as to undertake further undergrowth clearance.
Hot drinks will be provided on site and hot food will be provided at lunchtime
