Back to Killington Lane with the works train this morning to finish off the re-railing of the loop line.
1. The last closure rail was cut to length and bolted up to the new longer rails.
2. Graham Bendell and Richard Willey discuss the progress of this project.
3. Almost complete. The gang fix the rails into place. The works train was stabled alongside.
4. The old short rails were moved to a stack alongside the railway.
5.Dave, Nigel, Richard and Graham move an old short rail towards the rail stack.
6. HEDDON HALL with the works train seen (stationary) just after leaving Killington Lane whilst heading back to Woody Bay for lunch.
After the lunch break using HEDDON HALL and MOD flat No.52 the gang recovered some short rails and turnout sections from the lineside near Bridge 67 to transport to Killington Lane.
Back at Woody Bay several other jobs were completed today:
- On composite coach No.3 Jim Price worked on some new seat frames for the first class seating.
- Dick Gunn and Richard Burgess carried out some adjustments to the facing point locks and further enhancements to the lighting for the signals.
- In the stock shed the workshop area received some more machine tools, brought inside on the flat wagon and assembled into place.
- Preparations for opening at half-term week continued as the shop and tea rooms in the station building were cleared of surplus items to storage.
- All the permanent way hand tools in the box vans were tidied up after their recent use during the re-railing programme at Bridge 67 and Killington Lane Station this winter.
