Work in Progress: 10 February

Despite the absence of General Manager Martyn Budd today, the keen enthusiastic volunteers of the Thursday Group were prepared to work outside in the rain to further progress the rail renewal of the loop line at Killington Lane. Passenger trains are due to start again soon (Sat 20th), so it was important to try to complete this track upgrade project.

1. With the works train parked alongside, the gang continue the rerailing along the loop line at Killington Lane.
2. The STOP board signifies temporary closure of the loop line, as the works train is on the platform line.
3.  Working on a rail joint along the loop line.
4. Rain and mist descended after lunch but the final closure rails were selected and cut into place. Final drilling of fishplate holes and spiking to the sleepers was postponed until next week.
