The winter weather continues on west Exmoor with the threat of further heavy snow later this week. Prior to that rain was forecast after lunch, so the main outdoor task was begun shortly after the morning tea break.

Next January's work party weekend (28-30th Jan) will include a fencing project at the railway's land in Parracombe - Cricket Field Lane.

The recent freezing weather at last temporarily receded today to allow everyone a chance to get to Woody Bay without risking damaging their cars by slipping on the ice and snow that dominated Exmoor's landscape last week.
The main jobs on offer to the volunteers were to unload rail from the flat wagon at Killington Lane, and to identify and sort a quantity of concrete fence posts ready for a fencing project next year at our trackbed land in Parracombe.

A very wet day at Woody Bay and all the volunteers got extremely soaked whilst working on today's task of the fencing by the A39 road. The job was to install several concrete fence posts into the ground to create the fence as the necessary requirement of Exmoor National Park's planning condition of having a sturdy fence between the miniature railway and the A39. Larger strainer posts needed to be installed at each end.

Regular updates appear here from the "Thursday Gang", but they are not the only group of volunteers regularly working at Woody Bay or elsewhere.

If you are involved in any way with the activities at Woody Bay - or anywhere else - supporting the L&B, then please consider sending in a report of your latest efforts.  it doesn't have to be regular, and can be with or without photos, but others are keen to find out what is going on, and who knows, you might even recruit some new hands to help out with your endeavours!
