Cruise ship visitors at Woody Bay

A large cruise liner, the MS PRINSENDAM, moored off Ilfracombe on Friday, 22 July and 150 of the passengers, mainly from the United States, embarked on four coaches for a visit to Woody Bay Station and a ride on the railway.  Arrival at the station caused some slight confusion when "five" coaches unloaded their passengers. It transpired that the unexpected extra coach contained a group of Swiss railway enthusiasts on a tour of the West Country, thus stretching our facilities somewhat!

E762 Membership

Update: 25 August

A little bit later than had been hoped, but The 762 Club now has 175 members from a maximum of 350 - that's 50%!

Lyn Baldwin has already generously confirmed the sponsorship of the coal rails to celebrate reaching this milestone, so well done to one and all!

Now there's just another 175 members to recruit ...

With plenty of visitors about now as we begin to enter the 'peak' tourist season here in North Devon, the L & B R at Woody Bay enjoyed another busy Thursday. The usual Brend coach party at lunchtime, Shearings in the afternoon and another minibus of interested visitors all helped to swell the numbers today.

As regular "Reporter" Nigel Thompson was away on holiday he hoped I would "do the honours"!  As I always try to please, here is my report for Thursday 7th July.

A wide variety of tasks were undertaken by the good turnout of volunteers present - not to mention the regular L&B staff.
