Nigel Thompson is away this week, so Graham Bendell has kindly provided this week's report of the Thursday Gang activities:

The main task today was the replacement of a decayed fence post at Bridge 67. The existing post was a long section of old telegraph pole which was well past its sell-by date. After the fencing wires attached to it were removed the post fell at the first gentle push.

For a change of scenery today, The Thursday Group volunteers work party visited the L&BR CIC owned Chelfham Station.

The variety of railway equipment on site is gradually being sorted out with surplus items disposed of, sold or scrapped. We brought lifting jacks and sleepers with us to assist with this task.

2011
A new locomotive made a brief appearance at Woody Bay on Sunday 8th May 2011.  7¼ gauge, 2-4-0T Puffin was donated to the L&B last year and was recently overhauled by John and Michael Uphill.  So thanks to them both the loco was steamed and undertook some test runs on the miniature railway and although there is still further work to be done,  Puffin is anticipated to be in action over the Spring Vintage and AGM Weekend, 14th & 15th May.
