As regular "Reporter" Nigel Thompson was away on holiday he hoped I would "do the honours"! As I always try to please, here is my report for Thursday 7th July.
A wide variety of tasks were undertaken by the good turnout of volunteers present - not to mention the regular L&B staff.
1. Alex Colborn, Ian Milloy and Jim McFarlane construct the first step of a small flight to help the catering staff gain quicker, safe access to the marquee for the Food & Drink Festival. Len Howse can be seen returning with the empty wheelbarrow in the background.
2. John Villers tidies up the drain following the unblocking of a downpipe on the shed.
3. Ready for the beer - the marquee awaits the weekend's visitors.
4. John O'Dell continued his work on the new brake van.
5. Irene Cross and Judy Williams had another busy day in the kitchen.
6. Fireman Jim Price and Driver Phil Clarke chat to an interested visitor.
7. Dave Tooke flags off the 12.15 to Killington Lane.
After lunch John Villers and I - with half an eye on the rain clouds gathering over Parracombe - were dispatched to Killington Lane to continue with the dismantling of the turnout which was started last week.
8. John removes a nut before driving the bolt out to release a spacer block(not sure if that is the correct technical term!)
9. I drive out the last block, just in time to catch the 15.15 back to Woody Bay
While all of this was going on the excavator was brought to the shed for refuelling and to have oil levels checked and replenished, Richard Burgess continued with his electrical work, Tony Cross was kept busy in the shop. Some tidying of the area behind the shed was also carried out.
