Morgan Car Club Visit to Woody Bay
Last Sunday, 26th June, Woody Bay Station had a visit from the members of the Morgan Car Club.
1. We were able to arrange several of these sports cars around the station area, including two posed on the platform. Members of the public visiting on a warm, sunny afternoon found these cars to be a fascinating extra attraction.
Railwayana Valuation Day
Various items of railwayana, relics and models, were brought along to the station on Sunday 3rd July, for opinions and valuations by our experts from the Bristol Group. We would like to thank Mark Bladwell for organising this event, which may be repeated in the future.
2. The item which perhaps attracted the most attention on the day was a 3½ inch gauge live-steam model of LMS 4-6-0 No 6100 “Royal Scot”. In need of restoration, it was brought along by Frank Bottomly, who hopes to return it to steam. Our engineering team were quick to examine the loco, offering much useful advice. It would be nice to see it running one day: perhaps we should consider building a length of suitable track, to complement the 7¼ inch miniature railway.
Our thanks to Dave Tooke for providing both the words and the photos.
