The Surrey Support Group represented the L&B with their sales and publicity stand at the two-day Railway Weekend Gala on the 5th/6th June at the Hollycombe Working Steam Museum.

Sales were reasonable, and we would like to thank the following members who assisted at the event: David Abrahim, Bob Brown, Chris Dadson, Paul Gower, Peter Jones, Geoff Kingate, Phil Rawstron, and Fran Smith.

The train crews, shop and catering staff continue to keep the railway running every day.  Last week with several key 'Thursday gang' members away on holiday or otherwise unavailable, a special Bank Holiday weekend work party was arranged. Comprising Peter & Julia Snashall from Kent and John Villers from Dorset, on the Sunday they successfully continued the fishplate greasing programme down the line towards Killington Lane station.

[Election Day] The regulars of the Thursday Gang today continued further preparations for the Spring Gala. During the lunch and tea breaks a wide range of topical political views was discussed reflecting the tremendous diversity of interests, and circumstances that the regular volunteers hold within the L & B. However although we could have continued the debate all day, General Manager Martyn Budd was keen for us all 'to continue the good work' as well as the train crew enjoying another quite busy day even for early May.

Lyd in Steam

Followers of Project Lyd - the building of a replica of Lew, the last of the L&B's original locomotives will know that the locomotive was steamed for the firstt ime yesterdayat Boston Lodge on the Ffestiniog Railway. Trevor Garnham was there and provided this historic image.
