The train crews, shop and catering staff continue to keep the railway running every day. Last week with several key 'Thursday gang' members away on holiday or otherwise unavailable, a special Bank Holiday weekend work party was arranged. Comprising Peter & Julia Snashall from Kent and John Villers from Dorset, on the Sunday they successfully continued the fishplate greasing programme down the line towards Killington Lane station.
On the Monday Martyn Budd returned fresh from his holidays and together with Peter & Julia , John and now joined by Richard Willey, Nigel Thompson and new volunteer David Hancock from Ilfracombe, the work party concentrated on the fishplate greasing of all the rail joints at Killington Lane.
1. Greasing the rail joints at the occupation crossing near Killington Lane.
2. Standing back whilst SID rolls by with the passenger train.
3. SID departing Killington Lane with the 11.30 to Woody Bay.
4. Fishplate greasing the loop line whilst SID awaits to leave with an afternoon service.
5. John, Richard, David, Julia and Pete pose for the camera as the last train of the day enters the station .
6. It was a busy Bank Holiday Monday as visitors observe and photograph SID during the turn-round at Killington Lane.
