The Thursday Group welcomed long-standing regular L&B volunteer Graham Bendell from Dorset to its ranks today.
On a bright sunny day the outside task on offer to the gang was the commencement of the 2010 programme of fishplate greasing - was it really a year since we last did them?
Martyn Budd started us off with the greasing of all the fishplates on the up and down lines at Woody Bay Station.
Nigel Thompson was at Woody Bay today to witness some of the volunteers at work, both serving our visitors, and improving the railway. He was also there to check his Spring Draw tickets...
With the start of the Easter holidays and the prospect of a busy season of visitors expected - many of whom will be sampling the catering at Woody Bay, final preparations were well underway.

More photographs after last weekends efforts on the trackbed at Cricket Field Lane, these by Nigel Thompson.
Local Devon group members began the March working weekend today at the L&BR's trackbed near Parracombe. Last year much of the trackbed, cutting and adjacent land was cleared of undergrowth during several weekends by volunteers from the Isle of Wight Railway and other Trust members.
With full possession of the line on one of the last Thursdays without service trains before the season, the main task was to run a works train down to Killington Lane in order to undertake some tidying up.

At last we all enjoyed some bright sunny weather today at Woody Bay working in our sheltered position behind the station building digging holes for cabling and drainage work. This project, carried out on a day with no visitors about, required some careful excavation of the ground behind the kitchen and signal cabin. Many water pipes and electric cables are known to be buried here.
Here belatedly is the Thursday Gang report for the 4th March provided by Dave Blencowe. Not Daves fault - The Webmanagers' PC has died and the back-up Admin was away on business.
Please accept our apologies - better late than never.
