Work on the new underframe for Coach 17 has started at Boston Lodge. The steel sections have been cut and are now being assembled.

The underframe complete with brakes and couplings is scheduled to be delivered to Essex in July. This is a real leap forward in the rebuild and restoration of a coach originally built for the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway around 1912. The return to service in North Devon of one of the L&B's original carriages after 76 years is now getting a bit closer .

The bogies are already built and will be fitted soon. These are effectively a modern version of the original L&B bogies. Trevor Garnham took several photos of the bogies for coaches 7 and 17, during a visit to Boston Lodge over the LYD Charter weekend:
