Whilst the train crew, shop and catering staff ensured that today's visitors to the L&BR at Woody Bay Station enjoyed their experiences, a programme of general cleaning, tidying and maintenance is continued by the outdoor gang and the engineering volunteers in the shed.
1. Bogie Goods Brake Van No.23 is the only item of original railway rolling stock on site at present, stabled in the loading dock. Today the Van was given a thorough outside clean using a high pressure jet-wash cleaner and a brush.
2. After cleaning Van 23 was reopened for visitors to view the photographic displays inside.
3. The appearance of the entranceway was improved today by strimming the overgrowth. Martyn Budd with the petrol strimmer on the banks by the entrance from the A39.
4. A forthcoming future event will use part of the woodlands. After more strimming here, Alex and Brom pose while raking away the cut down overgrowth.
5. A welcome return to guard duties today was Chris Dadson from the Surrey Area Group.
6. Ready for shotblasting and regauging are the 4 bogies from the ex-MoD Bogie flat wagons recently transferred from storage at Chelfham.
7. The Brake Van project nears completion with all the exterior wood and fittings painted in SR livery.
8. Hunslet diesel D6652 restoration continues as the now temporarily cabless locomotive has largely been cleaned up and painted in red oxide primer ready for the reassembly to begin.
