Tuesday 23rd December the team was mainly involved in updating the security of the work shop.
It has been agreed that Tuesday of every week - commencing the 6th of January 2015 - will be the main volunteers working day. Other days are available by arrangement. Please contact David Ely on 07434523725.
Volunteering days will not be available during weeks that include public holidays or the when the L&BR has a major event such as the Spring and Autumn Galas
Just heard the sad news that Mike Johnson, a key mover and shaker in the Welsh Highland Railway (Porthmadog) from the mid-late 1970s and early 1980s, has died this week after suffering with cancer for almost a year.
Mike was one of the prime movers in getting the new railway up and running on the then recently occupied Beddgelert Siding site. He was actively involved in procuring rail, sleepers and track materials, with ex-W.D. 75lb per yard flat bottom rail and timber sleepers for the Company’s own use, other rail and materials for onward sale to raise much-needed funds.
One of our children's entertainers for this year's Santa Specials is Captain Coconut who makes huge bubbles and as the finale to his show wraps a child in a giant tubular bubble.
Whilst several volunteers remained at Woody Bay to carry out further maintenance on the building, electrical, and signalling projects, another work party was this week organised for Chelfham Station.
Our huge thanks to all those who turned out for the November Working Weekend and did their bit to make this event another success. Over the course of the weekend in excess of 35 volunteers attended and not only was it a pleasure to see so many returning faces but also many new ones.
