Work in Progress: Pilton EAST latest

Bogie work!

Martyn Budd and John Uphill took a trip to Pilton EAST this week to collect one of the bogies currently under carriage 11. Due to our operating trains throughout November and December, the annual routine maintenance on the carriage bogies is now running slightly behind schedule.

During the winter close-down, all the carriage bogies are taken out from under the carriages, cleaned and thoroughly checked, adjusted, lubricated etc. (See HERE for how the Thorpe Park bogies were done back in 2011). Having a spare bogie at Woody Bay will help the winter maintenance team get the vehicles ready in time for the first trains of the 2015 season.

With the carriage maintenance complete, the spare bogie will return to Great Yeldham to be relocated under carriage No. 11 prior to its departure for Woody Bay sometime before the May Gala.
