Although a damp overcast weekend, much ale was consumed at the Beer Festival. For the record the following beers were on offer:
Wizard Lundy Gold
Clearwater Cavalier
Country Life Old Appledore
Cotleigh Tawny Owl
Teignworthy Amys Ale
Teignworthy Strawberries & Cream.
with Wizard Lundy Gold emerging as the favourite tipple. Teignworthy Strawberries & Cream was also well received.
The Talyllyn Group of L&B stalwarts - Rob Prosser, Tim Wilkinson, Geoff Loynes and Murray Dods arrived at Woody Bay this weekend with the aim of installing as much as possible of the remaining signal rodding required to connect the final turnout at the Lynton end with the groundframe.
After a hard weekends graft, all the rodding pedestals are now in place as well as most of the rodding, signal pulleys and the point locking mechanism. So not quite finished but not too much to do now.
The Thursday gang today completed the clearing out of the remaining tools and materials from the former workshops in the unit at Grange Hill, Bratton Fleming. The lease can now be finally given up at the end of June.
Dave Blencowe provided a Luton van with which we were able to transport the various items with two full loads between Bratton Fleming and Woody Bay. Unloading onto flat wagon No.52 we shunted the loads through the station and into the shed for eventual storage and reuse within the new shed extension workshop area.
The twelfth annual Atlantic Coast Express Run for Classic and Vintage Cars brought drivers and their partners from all over Devon and Cornwall to Woody Bay Station on Sunday, setting off from Okehampton at 9.30 a.m
A new miniature railway has recently been constructed at Woody Bay Station. Built to 7¼ inch gauge, it is about 140 yards long, end-to-end. The line starts beside the entrance drive near the car park, crosses the upper station lawn, and runs into the trees at the Lynton end of the site. There is a possibility that further extensions to the line may be added at some time in the future.
On a bright sunny Sunday afternoon, several musicians entertained the visitors at Woody Bay Station playing on the stage whilst the trains came and went ...

Evolved from three Northamptonshire guys getting together at an acoustic night with a love for a bluesy style of music. They have released two albums - Light'n the Load in 2005 and Diversions 2006 and will shortly complete a live album.
