A colder day this week at Woody Bay as the Exmoor winter came early this year. With General Manager Martyn Budd off today it was up to the gang themselves to carry out a variety of jobs required - some in preparation for the Trackbash Weekend.
The main work in preparation for this coming weekends rail renewal programme on the curve near Bridge 67 was to unbolt and de-clip the old rails from the sleepers.
1. Dave and Dave begin the unbolting of the fishplates from the bottom end of the jobsite by Bridge 67.
2. The yellow hand trolley was used as a tool carrier and was the last rolling stock item to traverse these rails (ex Talyllyn Railway) which had been originally laid in 2004-5.
3. Nigel, Dave, Robin and Dave at work during the dismantling process.
4. Later Dave Tooke joined us to help the de-clipping at the other end of the curve.
5. The Daves working on unbolting a joint whilst Robin knocks out Pandrol clips with his key hammer.
