Work in Progress - 9 December

The recent freezing weather at last temporarily receded today to allow everyone a chance to get to Woody Bay without risking damaging their cars by slipping on the ice and snow that dominated Exmoor's landscape last week.
The main jobs on offer to the volunteers were to unload rail from the flat wagon at Killington Lane, and to identify and sort a quantity of concrete fence posts ready for a fencing project next year at our trackbed land in Parracombe.

1. Dick Gunn greasing the pointwork at Killington Lane.
2. HEDDON HALL with the works train as the digger begins to unload the rail.
3. The works train and remaining snow patches at Killington Lane.
4. Jim was on the wagon to attach the strops to the rails.
5. The digger safely lifts the rails (all dismantled turnout sections) from the wagon...
6. ...to store on the ground (in the snow) until time for regauging is available.
