Surrey Group

Surrey Group’s aim is to provide a local social platform for likeminded L&B enthusiasts by organising local meetings, social events at our base at Mizens’ Railway as well as opportunities to visit other places of interest.

Many of these get-togethers are not only open to our members, family and friends but also anyone who is interested in the events themselves.

As a regular occurrence, we take our well-stocked L&BR sales stand to railway events and exhibitions throughout the year which helps to promote the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway and raise funds towards its restoration.

Please contact us if you would like to join us, you will be most welcome.

Super Heroes take a Pew!

By a chance conversation, the removal of pews at Farnham Spire Church was mentioned.

Having made contact with Annette Saville, the administrator, the L&B was sold to her as a beneficiary. As a steam buff she was most impressed by our progress.

On offer were: 5 x 16 ft 3 in pews, 4 x 9 ft 9 in pews plus lots of other panels and lengths of wood. This gave us: 14 x solid 6 ft seats, 14 x panel backs and 14 x 6ft prayerbook shelves.

Time for another social get together to blow away the winter blues

Happy New Year Everyone

Christmas is over along with the New Year celebrations and hype and things start to get quiet, very cold and at the time of writing very wet and windy. So let's have another get together in a warm and welcoming pub.

It was generally agreed that our pre-Christmas meal went well and, as I haven't had time to go and visit other options, this will be the venue again this time. I have asked for tables in the main bar area though rather than the area we had before which had a rather low ceiling.
