With November marking the end of the main operating season, the railway is currently only open on Tuesdays. This allows essential maintenance to be carried out during the rest of the week.
Unsurprisingly, not all volunteer work takes place at Woody Bay as this report - provided by Anne Belsey, of the several L&B volunteers who attended the Exeter Garden Rail Show on Saturday 27th October 2018 to fly the L&B flag - amply illustrates.
The Exeter Garden Rail Show is the second largest exhibition in the country for the exponents of garden steam railways, most of which are based on British narrow gauge practice. It was therefore entirely appropriate, to use the occasion to exhibit the L&B's plans for the future.
Many visitors about in North Devon this week during the schools half-term. It was quite busy earlier in the week when the weather was warmer, today the weather is a bit cooler.
Our thanks to Martin Creese of 30742 Charters who arranged the photo charter at Woody Bay Monday 1st October. Martin provides this service for the benefit of railway photographers everywhere. Check out his Flickr photostream here https://www.flickr.com/photos/martincreese/ for more photos of the L&B as well as many other railways.
Also, our thanks to the train crews for their assistance - especially our guests from the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways.
