Surrey Group at Woking 31st May

UPDATE: 26 May 2014: South East Area Group Meeting on 31st May 2014

We regret to advise that L&BR Trust Chairman Peter Miles is unable to attend Woking event this Saturday as he will be in North Devon dealing with matters in connection with the Rowley Moor purchase. However, Peter has prepared some notes and the content of these will be imparted to those attending the meeting.

We must also advise that Trustee Peter Snashall is also unable to attend due to family reasons. However we are pleased to confirm that Tony Ely has agreed to make the presentation on behalf of EAST Group about progress on the heritage carriages. Tony is a stalwart of the L&BR coach restorations and made a similar presentation at last years event.

1. Woking Miniature Railway Society clubroom during the 2013 event

This is the third of what has become a regular annual event which enables L&B members who are unable for whatever reason to attend the L&BR’s Annual General Meeting at Lynton Town Hall, to receive an update of what occurred at the AGM, as well as what is happening and occurring on and around the railway. If you have an appetite for the latest news this is the event for you.

2. YEO waiting to haul members around the Mizens Railway

The formal meeting will commence at 2pm, but the site will open at 12 Noon from when you will be able to take a train ride on the Mizens Railway (hopefully behind ‘YEO’) for £1 a ride. Between 12 noon and 1.30pm a barbecue will be available, as will tea and coffee, to provide your lunch needs, and alternatively ice cream and cold drinks will be available from the Mizens Railway shop.

From 2pm there will be a series of separate presentations, each followed by a Q&A session, including:

  • L&BR Trust: The latest news regarding the progress of Exmoor Enterprise and their efforts to extend the line towards Blackmoor and beyond. (Peter Miles – L&BR Trust Chairman).
  • EAST (East Anglia Support Team): The Heritage Carriage restoration project. (Pete Snashall – L&BR Trustee Volunteer Liaison).
  • 762 Club: The project to build 'LYN' the L&B's Baldwin loco. (Peter Miles – Project Manager 762 Club).
  • Exmoor Associates: Progress with their efforts to procure trackbed for Phase 3 of the L&BR's reconstruction (Mike Buse – EA Chairman.)

3. Gordon Brown receives his 25 year L&BR Trust Membership Certificate and Badge from Peter Miles last year.

If you have an appetite for the latest news, come along to find out what is happening or proposed in North Devon.

Additionally the Surrey Group Sales Stand will be available to supply your needs from the range of L&B products available at Woody Bay.

The event timetable is detailed above and it is anticipated the meeting will finish at 5.30pm.
All L&B members of the L&BR Trust, including non-members of the Surrey Area Group and those from outside our membership capture area, are welcome to attend. Site ADMISSION and the presentations detailed above are free.
