Surrey Group Meeting this Saturday 23rd June

Surrey Group Meeting - Saturday 23rd June

A reminder that our next meeting will be held this coming Saturday 23rd June in the clubhouse of the Woking Miniature Railway (aka the Mizens Railway) at Barrs Lane, Knaphill, Surrey GU21 2JW.

Our guest speaker, Keith Vingoe, is a L&BR historian, author, a member of the railway since 1980, and currently serves as Commercial & Marketing Director of the L&BR CIC. He will be presenting his new audio/visual presentation entitled “THE LYNTON & BARNSTAPLE RAILWAY FROM THE 1935 CLOSURE TO THE PRESERVATION ERA”.

Many know about the railway and its 37 years existence, but few have knowledge of the years after closure, including the almost 39 year existence of the organisation that took on the task of reinstating the railway. This presentation is intended to put that right and will include unpublished photos and details about the railway’s slumbering years through to the renaissance at Woody Bay. Also included are the railway's plans to put back the entire line from Lynton to Barnstaple.

The meeting will commence a 1:00 pm but please try to arrive before then. As usual, there will be ample free off-street parking available within the grounds of the Miniature Railway and light refreshments will available in the clubhouse.

And finally, we are pleased to extend an invitation to all members of the L&BR Trust to attend this meeting.

Surely another presentation not to be missed!
