The main job today for the well attended Thursday work party was the installation of base plates on the re-railed section of line between Woody Bay and Bridge 67. When the line was rerailed during winter 2008-9 the new sleepers added near the rail joints were fixed with spikes and ex MOD plates. A recent deal with a supplier which involved the exchange of unsuitable rail for new base plates has provided the base plates to enable this section of track to be upgraded to our uniform high standard.
