Two L&B Talks in the North of England

After having stands at two separate shows during March 2019, the North West Group's next events are to provide talks to two separate railway groups at opposite sides of northern England.

Monday 8 April 2019

“The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway – Then and Now”

Talk to Rainhill Railway and Historical Society, Rainhill 19.30 at Rainhill Village Hall, L35 4LU. See for details.

Friday 3 May 2019

“The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway – Then and Now”

Talk to Stephenson Locomotive Society, Middlesbrough, Teesside 19.00 at Newport Community Hub, Union Street, Middlesbrough, TS1 5NQ. See for details.

Visitors are welcomed at both these events. There is usually a small charge payable on the door. L&B members in the areas concerned are invited to come along.

We have done talks to several groups in Lancashire, Cheshire and North Wales before, of course, as we meet the organisers of these groups at shows, and they are always on the lookout for new speakers.

Venturing as far afield as Teesside will be a new experience. Presumably the invitation to attend is as the result of a recommendation from our local SLS area group.

After this flurry of activity, the next major event planned for the group will be to attend the very busy Manchester Model Railway Society annual exhibition, on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December 2019. The once-prestigious Manchester Christmas Show has recently been revitalised after a few years' break, and is now planned several years in advance with high-profile layouts to attract the crowds. As a result, it has taken some time to negotiate a presence there for the L&B.

Before December, we will hope to organise another Saturday afternoon talk for members in the Manchester area, when there is some progress with work on the extension to report on.
