Meeting Up at Rainford

Peter Ainley and Bob Barnard from the L&B North West Group were in attendance at the get-together for narrow gauge modellers held in Rainford, St Helens, Lancashire on Saturday 11 September 2021.

The meeting had two halls of model layouts, trade stands, and demonstrations, plus an area to partake of the excellent refreshments provided in aid of a local charity by the local lad

Over the course of the day, 91 visitors came through the doors, in addition to the various participants.  Most were friends and fellow local modellers that we had not seen face-to-face for over 18 months.  Apart from a brief period shortly after opening, the event was pleasantly uncrowded.  Everyone took advantage of the chance for leisurely chats.

The L&B had books, magazines, and cards on sale, and we sold quite a few of Paul Levy's model kits in addition to the L&B merchandise.

Peter's 16mm scale Manning Wardle was much admired.

Bob's Raleigh Weir layout was operating throughout the day, having been worked on further since its previous outing.

It was particularly good to meet several recent L&B members from the area, who introduced themselves during the day.

Our thanks go to the organisers, who judged the day to have been a great success, with all costs met and a charity supported.  They are already planning another event early in 2022.
