EAST Group AGM, 25th May 2019

The L&BR EAST Group AGM was held on Saturday 25th May 2019 at Eight Ash Green Village Hall 23, Spring Lane, Colchester CO6 30F

After several years Tony Ely has stood down as Chairman and Steve Arthurs was today duly elected as his successor.

Sadly, Tony Ely was unwell and unable to be with us to receive his presentation bronze plaque depicting L&BR Carriage No. 5 (which is soon to join the railway). This was accepted by his son Dave Ely, along with a bouquet for Tony’s wife Sheila in thanks of their substantial contribution not only to the the EAST group but also to the wider L&BR project.

Tony intends to maintain his technical input to the current refurbishment of Van 23 and Carriage No.1, whose build will commence later this year. Full details will soon be published on the Heritage Carriages page of the website.
