Devon Group trip to South Devon Railway

A total of 11 Devon based L&B Trust members enjoyed a trip to Buckfastleigh via the South Devon Railway on a very wet Wed 14 February.

1. After the usual GWR main-line trains from Barnstaple and Exeter to Totnes, it was time to ride on a heritage GWR train. London Transport liveried ex GWR Pannier L92 arrives at Totnes Riverside as the L&B members wait.

2. & 3. Enjoying their ride on the South Devon Railway.

4. Despite the rain we ambled into Buckfastleigh for lunch at the Globe Inn.

5. Some superb meals were served as Dave Evans tucks in to his Gammon steak and chips.

Back to the trains: there was time for a visit to the Ratio Models Factory Shop as well as the SDR's own shop for more purchases by those into their modelling.

6. Our train back to Totnes was hauled by another Pannier No. 6412 with an auto coach at each end.

We returned with tea and cake at Totnes signal box cafe, train to Exeter and another beer at the GW Hotel before the 17:57 train to Barnstaple.
