Sidmouth lost its railway during the Beeching closures back in the 1960s. However the town remains a bustling tourist resort on the East Devon coast and today 11 Trust members of the Devon (and Bristol Group) decided to brave the elements for a trip to Sidmouth using public transport.
1. After the train from Barnstaple to Exmouth, it was the 157 route bus to Sidmouth.
2. Still wintry weather - windy and wet and cold as the group shelter during their brief walk along the promenade.
3. So windy here now as everyone struggled during the walk to the pub for lunch.
4. Lunch was at the Black Horse before a wander around the town and a tea and cake stop at a cafe.
5. Bus back to Exmouth. The group occupy all the rear seats.
6. Group leader Nigel tries a selfie with everyone else behind him during the pub stop at the The Powder Monkey - the Wetherspoon's pub in Exmouth.
