Devon Group trip to Okehampton Sunday 18th August

1. From Barnstaple we changed at Crediton. The group await their next train....

2. .....which was a GWR Class 150. The service from Exeter to Okehampton currently only works on summer Sundays.

3. Another posed shot, now with 150261 at Okehampton.

4. Lunch was at the Okehampton Wetherspoons. Former L&BR Operations Director, Tony Hill and former Barnstaple Station staff member, Ian Dinmore from Norwich (both foreground) came along especially for this trip.

5. Back at Okehampton Station, the Dartmoor Railway were operating their train to Meldon Viaduct. Class 08 D4167 was the traction today.

6. A few of us were treated to a cab ride. This is the view from the 08 as we propelled the train uphill to Meldon.

7. Tom Baxter drives the O8. Thanks especially to all at Dartmoor Railway who made us very welcome for this enjoyable visit.

8. For the record it was Dave Drayson, Ian Dinmore, myself and Geoff Long who enjoyed their cab ride in D4167.

10. We returned on the train  at 15:52 but without a connection we decided to continue through to Exeter. Unusually our train terminating in the bay platform No. 2 at Exeter St Davids.

11. So with an hour to kill, what to do! Of course we wandered up the hill to the Imperial Wetherspoons for another pint.
