Wednesday 19th February
For February half term week this year, we decided to visit Seaton Tramway.
1. The group await their next train at Exeter. Behind is the Class158 which we had sampled earlier from Barnstaple.
2. After the SWR train to Axminster and a local bus to Colyford, we caught a tram to Seaton to purchase our tickets. Almost unrecognizable and smartly-dressed, our own L&B signalling engineer volunteer Don Newnham, (who also works here at Seaton Tramway) was able to organise all our free tickets using the Heritage Railway Passes that we all have - still valid until March.
3. Lunch was at the Old Malthouse pub at Seaton.
4. Time to head back. Pink Tram No.11 awaits us inside the new covered terminus building.
5. Some of us had braved the wet and windy upper open top deck on the way down but this time we crowded into a warmer downstairs compartment for the return....
6. .....except "Billy-No-Mates" Keith Lamprey who had his own compartment!
7. The trams, buses and trains back went ok, including coffee and cake break at Honiton, and a beer at Exeter.
Next trip is Wednesday 18th March to Looe.
