A group of seven L&B members travelled from Barnstaple to Plymouth and Calstock on this months ‘social’ rail trip.
1. After arrival at Plymouth on the Cross Country HST.
2. The gang pose by power car 43207 at Plymouth.
3. Time for the first pint of the day at St James Vaults pub, Plymouth.
4. Then the train up to Calstock for lunch at the Tamar Inn. Posing my the magnificent Calstock viaduct over the River Tamar which divides Devon and Cornwall here.
Afterwards there was time to complete the branch line to Gunnislake, then straight back to Plymouth, a short (pub) break at Newton Abbot and the 1900 train home to Barnstaple –all on time. A great day out with the Devon Day Ranger £6.60 ticket.
