Devon Group Autumn Rail Trips

This autumn, a few L&B Devon Group Trust members enjoyed a couple of rail trips around Devon.

In October, a group went to Teignmouth for lunch, followed by a beer at Exeter Imperial Wetherspoons Beer Festival.

1. A cold and wet stroll in Teignmouth before lunch.

2. Awaiting the train at Teignmouth station.

3. We sampled a Castle Class short HST which now work several stopping trains on the South Devon Main Line...

4. ... before sampling beer in the Orangery at Exeter Imperial Wetherspoons.

For November, we ventured West to Plymouth, for a bus via the chain ferry to Torpoint for lunch.

5. From Exeter the group pose as their Cross Country HST arrives.

6. It was a choppy day out at sea. & 7. On the sea wall at Dawlish - given the high tide - the train was heavily splashed by breaking waves

8. After arriving at Torpoint and finding a suitable lunch venue including this view of the Torpoint ferries passing each other as they cross the Tamar.

9. The Torpoint Rowing Club bar and restaurant catered well for all 13 of us.

10. The group pose in a line to await their bus back via the Torpoint ferry to Plymouth.

We had time on the return to enjoy a beer and model-shop break at Newton Abbot and another beer stop at Newton St Cyres.
