A Day Out in Wales

We had booked to travel on one of the two special trains drawn by LYN on the Welsh Highland Railway on Sunday 14 April 2019, and subsequntly the decision was made to distribute some L&B literature to passengers on the trains. So, this was a mixture of pleasure and NW Area Group work!

A few photographs are provided for others to enjoy:

Some familiar backs of heads in the First Class observation car.

Taking on water at Beddgelert ready for the climb ahead. The driver was surprised how little water LYN had used.

On the S-curves above Beddgelert, safety valve blowing.

During the layover at Rhyd Ddu, whilst two service trains passed, Lyn ran round the train and shunted it into the other platform.

The reverse curves again on the way back. The Snapper Bar is behind the engine.

The afternoon train leaving Porthmadog Harbour and crossing Britannia Bridge.

We stayed in the town for a while, but in the car we overtook the train below Beddgelert, so stopped in the Aberglaslyn Pass to watch it pass.
