Combe Rail Model Railway Exhibition

The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway and Exmoor Associates attended the Combe Rail Model Railway Exhibition at the Landmark Theatre Ilfracombe on Saturday 8th September.

2. Also in attendance were West Somerset Railway, Tarka Valley Railway, Bideford Railway Heritage Centre, Instow Signal Box, Okehampton Railway, Great Western Railway Centre at Southall, and Ilfracombe Museum.

3. In addition there were superb models of Parracombe Halt (above) and Ilfracombe Quay.

6. Anne Belsey - recently moved from Kent to North Devon, and, keen to continue her valuable contribution to publicise the railway - had brought the L&BR's display boards showing the planning application together with a collection of L&BR publicity leaflets. Also on the L&B stand was Devon Group Trust Member and regular volunteer Keith Lamprey.

Barry Marshall brought the EA display boards and Chris Lane his Ordnance Survey map showing those sections of trackbed already owned by our EA and the L&B organisations.

Visitors to the exhibition included the usual mix of residents, holiday-makers and those who had already visited, or were intending to visit, Woody Bay, so we were all able to enlighten and educate an interested public. Attending as visitors were Martyn and Ollie Budd, Dave Tooke and latterly Brom and Jackie Bromidge.
