2019 009 Society Narrow Gauge Railway Show at Rainford

This was the L&B's third visit to the show associated with the 009 Society's AGM, where modellers from all over the country gather.  The venue alternates between North and South, this year taking place in Rainford, St Helens, Lancashire on Saturday 30 March 2019.

Bob and Sue Barnard, Peter Ainley and Ron Dumbell were in attendance during the day.  Having used the L&B's corporate banners at a couple of recent events, we revived our usual display stand for this show, updating the pictures on it to help us explain our Phase 2A extension plans to visitors.

During the day, we were pleased to meet a number of existing L&B members, and to hand out Membership forms to several people who expressed an interest.

Bob's recently-published narrow gauge modelling book was on sale, and proved popular with visitors, even though some had already purchased a copy prior to the show.

Many were interested to see Bob's L&B construction model "Raleigh Weir" (which features in the book, and was also described in L&B Magazine 117) in operation on our stand. All the profits from sales of the book at the show of course go to the L&B.

Peter always likes the challenge of photographing the model layouts. Here, Excelsior passes over Bridge 7 with some visitors. (Photo: Peter Ainley)

Our thanks are due to the show organisers, who made us very welcome and provided us with tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the day.
