The North Kent Area Group was formed in March 2002 aimed at enthusiasts and supporters of the railway living in Dartford and the surrounding area, to support the L&B Trust in it's efforts to restore, reopen and operate what is possibly the most famous narrow gauge railway in Britain
After a few years "perchance, sleeping", In November 2013, the Kent Group briefly re-awakened, and attended various railway and modelling events throughout the county, with a new, innovative, L&B-themed display stand built by Anne Belsey, now resident in North Devon, and elected as a Trustee in 2019.
With Anne now very active in North Devon, the Kent Group is again slumbering. If you are interested in helping to reform the group, in finding out more about the L&B, or if you hear of any local events we could attend, then please get in touch:
(image right): Pictured outside the garage where it was built, this half-scale, L&B four-ton, four-wheel open wagon No. 1, as built in 1898 with top-hung doors, is about the same size as a standard display table at exhibitions etc. and formed the basis of the Kent Group display stand for 2014. Designed and Built by Kent L&B Member Anne Belsey, The wagon (which provides storage shelves at the rear, as well as the display top) and "LYNTON" running-in board fits into an average estate car, and can be easily assembled by one person slotting the parts together without any screws, bolts or other fixings. The "ballast" is painted polystyrene.) The stand, along with Anne, is now resident in North Devon.
