Working Weekend 28th to 30th January 2022

Over the three-day period, we had a large turnout on each day. This weekend was the one in which the cafe marquee would be used for the last time before being dismantled to make way for the new tea room to be built prior to the railway hopefully reopening in March.

The work completed over the weekend includes.....

  • Installation of the railways first full track panel with recycled plastic sleepers;
  • Sleepers were replaced on two sets of points at Woody Bay with new plastic sleepers, and various other work related to the points was also undertaken;
  • The miniature railway was re-ballasted with 7 tons of new stone;
  • The courtyard between the station building and the A39 highway was cleared of untidy vegetation and rotting leaves; and
  • Cleared up areas of wood and old supplies.

I thank everyone, including the mid-week volunteers who set everything up for the weekend, the volunteers who turned up on each of the work days, and the L&B regulars who helped make the weekend so successful. Your efforts were very much appreciated. Thank you.
