Working Weekend - 11th/12th/13th March - Now with added video

The latest Working Weekend was over 11th/12th/13th March - here is a brief report  from Kent based Trustee and active volunteer Pete Snashall. Now with added video - see below!

Friday 11th March

As previously reported we were able to split into two gangs. One gang, armed with bars set about correcting alignment faults on the running line.

By the end of the day the gang had reached Killington Lane and were able to leave the track ready for the busy season ahead.

Meanwhile the second gang were planting a hedge along the A39 adjacent to the miniature railway. During the day they had placed a staggering 500 plants in the ground.

Also, Richard Burgess completed the installation of the Signal Box indicator for the up platform shunt signal that he and Dick Gunn had been working on.

Saturday and Sunday 12th/13th March

A change of scene as we moved to Wistlandpound to continue the clearance started last year.

With good weather conditions, rapid headway was soon being made into the dense undergrowth.......

.......and a number of fires were required to keep up with the volume of debris produced.

By the end of Sunday we were able to enjoy views of the trackbed that have not been seen for many years.

A special mention must go to Judy Williams for providing us with a lunch that we were able to heat up on site....much appreciated by all!

Thanks to everyone who came from near and far to help over the weekend.

Pete
