Many of the tasks supporting the railway are carried out away from the glare of publicity, and far away from Woody Bay.
Largely going unnoticed but a very important job within the L&B Trust these days is that of the Membership Secretary.
Despite the recent introduction of on-line renewals, most members currently renew in the traditional way posting their cheque with the renewal notice.
Their own stamped addressed envelopes are then used to send out the membership cards, a brief 'thank you' letter, and the current L&B timetable leaflet. This work is carried out by membership secretary Ian Cowling and assistant Mike Smale, pictured here by Nigel Thompson, this time shown working in the new mess room.

If you are working "behind the scenes" for the L&B, in any capacity, and would like to tell others about your role, please get in touch.
Likewise, if you would like to join in any of these activities, either at Woody Bay,or elsewhere, we can put you in touch with those already involved. Every task that can be done by a volunteer adds to the quality of the railway we are recreating, and saves money for those things we cannot achieve on our own.
