Work in Progress - Thursday 9th April

Despite a very poor weather day at Woody Bay, progress continued indoors within the new shed extension. The shed floor area in the extension will be concreted soon and some of the gang were tasked with installing the full shuttering around.

Meanwhile, two wagons in the shed were worked on: Ex MOD bogie flat (being converted to a replica of L&B bogie open No.12) had some of the wooden tongue and groove sides cut to length and fitted, and Bogie Open No. 54 had a new section of planks prepared to replace the damaged and rotting floor.

1. Dave Tooke digs out the shed extension floor for shuttering boards. Progress on Wagon No.12 can be seen behind him

2. The gang relax and admire their shuttering handiwork

3. Nigel Thompson with bogie open wagon No.54

It was of course an operating day today and a steady stream of visitors enjoyed the train ride to Killington Lane and back. The train crew kept busy with AXE and the carriages.

4. Driver David Pritchard (Surrey Group) and Fireman Eddie Mills pose with AXE

5. Guard Richard Drewer observes AXE during the run-round at Woody Bay

6. Richard checks his train whilst awaiting the next passengers
