Work in Progress - Thursday 29th January

After last weekends mammoth undertakings, the Thursday Group volunteers probably deserved an easy week, but not a bit of it!

Todays work largely consisted of preparing the site for the extension to the rear (Lynton end) of the Rolling Stock shed. This involves moving a considerable amount of stored equipment to other locations on the railway. Diesel 'Heddon Hall' and a bogie flat wagon were used to move stacks of sleepers, fence posts, concrete blocks, and signalling equipment up and down the line all day. The gang kept busy with both the loading and unloading of the materials from the train at the various storage sites including the sleeper stacks near Bridge 67 and at Killington Lane.

Other work on site today included further stripping out of the old temporary toilets in the Portakabins and some sign erection and more fitting out of the new toilets, by both contractors and volunteers.
