Work in Progress - Thursday 16th April

Todays main task was to concrete the floor in the shed extension. Several volunteers helped with this important project which after a hard days toil fighting time against the setting cement was finally completed and with the wagons and tools all washed by 1700.

 

 

1. The first load of dry readymix concrete is loaded into the works train at 0900

2. In the shed the digger unloads the dry mix onto the sides of the track 0930-1030

3. Brian and Andy smooth down the dry mix between the track in the shed extension

4. The main wet mix of concrete is delivered at 1030 and the works train awaits a path across past Woody Bay Station and into the shed

5. The digger unloads the readymix into the shuttered and polythened floor area in the shed extension

6. The 'clam shell' bucket carefully drops the mix 1200

7. After unloading the second wagon and finally smoothing off the surface, Andy and Dave remove the wooden plank used as a float.1500

8. Richard and Andy plane off the dry mix sides. 1530 

9. The completed concreted floor areas in the shed extension. 1630

 


 


Other work underway today included some tracklaying at Woody Bay!
