Work in Progress - Sunday 4th January

Although passenger services are now suspended until the spring, work still continues at Woody Bay, and today was no exception.

The L&B's own steam locomotive - Axe - returned from Gartells, where it had returned after the Armistice Day Commemoration to receive a few final adjustments. Axe will now undergo running-in trials. After that the loco will be lined out and prepared for the 2009 running season.

Justine (on the right in the picture below) will return to the North Gloucestershire Railway shortly, having hauled its last train on the L&B on New Year's Day when the local Diabetic Club visited the Railway.

The low-loader that delivered Axe was then loaded with Sid, which will now receive some attention to its boiler and motion ready to return to service in the new season.
